Wavelength began as founder Dr. Martha Palley Katz’ (PhD, MS) personal journey to end her own compulsive eating and heal her body — not by punishing “diet and exercise” but by looking at the neurological patterns that drive behavior. She started incorporating practices from mindfulness behavioral therapy, and actively managing her insulin through nutrition. She went from barely being able to walk around the block to hiking the Grand Canyon.
Then, Martha helped her daughter, Sarah — who was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and PCOS in her teens — to create a positive relationship to food, heal her metabolism, and take steps toward self-compassion. Both women ended up losing nearly half their bodyweight as a result of these lifestyle changes, over a decade ago.
Now, Sarah is translating Martha’s nearly two decades of client work & insights into a global movement to heal our bodies and minds.
